A website that I'm fond of gives four commandments for authors. I've had trouble embracing the 2nd commandment. I know it's a true principle but I have not yet figured out how to put it into practice.
Love Your Reader as Much as You Love Your Book
My wife and I went to see Masters of the Universe this weekend. Both of us thought it was the best movie we had seen in many years. The people who made this movie really loved their audience and they made the movie that the audience most wanted to see. This concrete example of the 2nd commandment gives me the motivation I need to do the same for my stories.
