Getting Schooled
A much needed upgrade
After writing the first few stories in my Fen Gallah world, I realized I really needed to improve my skills if I'm going to give my readers the satisfying experience that I would want to have reading these books.
I was already a patron of Author Media and was thoroughly enjoying all the resources available there. I first heard about their writing development course in a video that YouTube randomly put in my feed. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on that sort of thing but the more I heard about it and researched other writing courses, I realized, "That's amazingly cheap for what I'm getting!"
I finally purchased The 5 Year Plan ("It takes 10 years to become a good writer. We'll show you how to do it in 5") but I didn't follow the plan. I spent several months getting distracted and doing things out of order, convinced that I could do it in 2 years. Well, that didn't work. I finally buckled down and started doing ALL the course work and I feel a lot more able, like I might actually succeed in doing this writing thing.
I feel very blessed to have the resources available to me when I'm ready to make this next step. I pray that everyone who wants to do this is similarly blessed.
