The Submission Cycle
Submit. Reject. Submit. Reject. The story keeps going round and round.

So I submitted my story to a magazine and it was promptly rejected. "Does not suit our current needs." I had seen on their website that they would critique all stories submitted but in the rejection email it said they don't do that anymore. I was really looking forward to the critique.
So I immediately submitted it to the next magazine on my list. I was very confident that this one would be a better fit for my story than the first one. I just got the rejection notice back. They were kind enough to actually give a short critique which I very much appreciate. Instead of immediately sending it off to the next magazine, I'm going to rewrite/edit, taking those valuable comments very much under consideration.
I have had enough sales experience that rejection doesn't bother me. I know my story is good. I know I can make it better. With the qualified, unbiased feedback like I just received, it's only a matter of time.
